So the Eater LA and Mylastbite both talked about the Taste of The Nation about 1 month ago.

but.. I’m still pondering. After the craziness that was Gold Standard, it’s even harder to shell out one hundred twenty five big ones for 3 hours of grubbin’ fun.

Anyone else hitting this up?

LA Times reported on the kick off event yesterday, looks mighty delish and full of foodie bloggin’, picture-taking opportunities?

I wish the Gold Standard was as organized as Taste of the Nation. Maybe because it was outdoors in the park or that you could easily FIND each restaurant booth (not so at Gold Standard), but it just felt more like a fun summer festival.

One note: If you decide to go… GET THERE EARLY. I heard a few complaints from folks that had to wait in a long line to get in, but I was there early and throughly enjoyed myself. Maybe a little too much at the rum booth! LOL

$125 is an insane number.

I’d have to agree with Steve, the price is a little too much (especially in today’s economy) for broke ass folks like me. I would definitely pay that much though for an excellent meal at a 5 star restaurant, but for a crowded festival? Nah.

was invited to check out the kickoff event, but taking place on a Tuesday morning/early afternoon, I missed out. Glad LA Times’ daily dish reported on it though.

I’m split between Taste of the Nation and the American Wine&Food Festival (an even pricier $300!)

I went last year to Taste of Nation and you definitely get your moneys worth. Look at all the restaurants in one place!! Get there early and pace your eating throughout the day. Food is excellent. Plus, the chefs all look like they’re having a good time too. And money goes to charity.
