Hopefully Worldfare won’t fizzle out so quickly after only 2 hits ala Perry. At least unlike Britney, I’m probably not going to do it (chase trucks) again.
It was a chilly fun late evening stuffed with pulled braised short rib and meatball sliders (which were served as purposefully shaped tall brioche balls with flat bottoms and somewhat hollowed innards). People stood on top of the bus, pulled from a San Diego touring company unfortunately downsized by the economy; some chowed, some pointed, some went: “oooo shiiiet! Did you see that!” when they saw the LAPD put the smack down on some revelers at the corner of Cahuega/Hollywood. Even the Guardian Angels showed up.
The chef and crew were looking nervously alive on Saturday, waiting for patrons to visit so they may make a good impression. To finish off the evening, Co-owner/bustauranteur Travis Schmidt delivered a piping hot butterscotch bread pudding and said chef Jason Travi (of Fraiche/Riva/Fraiche episode) proclaimed this best bread pudding he’s ever had.
To reiterate how good that dessert was, even served in a cardboard box, see picture of intense focus on bread pudding:

There is talk of serving items being served on bell peppers of various colors, there is talk of opening an espresso cum dessert bar in an un-utilized section of the rolling giant, there is talk of “underground” (or is that.. above ground?) dinners being served on the top deck, there is talk of top deck concerts. Mostly, there is talk of the extremely photogenic chef (Andi Van Willigan) turning out more thoughtful food in this sea of mobile mediocrity.
