First up, the second annual KBBQ Cook-Off, as judged by actress Sandra Oh (who was AWESOME in Dancing at the Blue Iguana — thanks AT&T UVerse for the free 3 months of HBO), returning judge Jonathan Gold, and the ubiquitous chef Ludovic Lefebvre. This might be the most awesome panel of judges to assemble for any food festival this summer. You got an ethnically “correct” actress who clearly needs to eat more, you got one Pulitzer winner, and you have the only LA chef to be reviewed by the relatively newly minted New York Times restaurant critic Sam Sifton.

Last year, the festival was super hot and sticky, with beer flowing like blood at a bull fighting ring. This year, the pay for play format remains, but food tickets will be instated to facilitate cleanliness and speediness. To keep up with the times, the number of food trucks has increased, but Ktown strong holds of Soowon and Park’s BBQ will return.

Ammo’s Sunday Roast on August 8th will feature fish instead of the typical pork, beef and lamb.

And instead of presenting a wine maker, or a farmer, as tradition at Ammo Roasts, a book signing with Paul Greenberg, author of Four Fish: The Future of the Last Wild Food will be the pre-dinner festivities.

After talking about wild fish, a $50 5 course meal featuring 4 courses of seafood will be served:

Carlsbad oysters on the half-shell with shallot mignonette & fresh horseradish

*****

Hot-smoked Arctic char with marinated beets, chopped egg & celery seed vinaigrette

*****

Oven-roasted mussels & clams with summer shell beans & wild fennel

*****

Grilled barramundi with eggplant caponata, basil & aïoli

*****

Roasted figs with honey ice cream

While fish, octopus & squid ice cream flavors are available in Jpan, but most would probably want to to the roasted figs flavor instead.

  • Unquestionably imagine that that you said. Your favorite reason seemed to be at the web the easiest thing to understand of. I say to you, I certainly get irked whilst other people think about worries that they just do not recognize about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the highest and also outlined out the entire thing without having side-effects , other people can take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thank you
