This monstrosity is only $6.5 and it was so, so good.
Half pound of fries, topped with quarter pound of shaved lamb/beef doner, drenched in curry sauce (not curry, different!) a bit of house made hot sauce, and a drizzle of crema.
What is the secret? As the steak fries are not cut in-house, and come frozen? It’s really all in the sauce. The matte green curry sauce is a blend of … I don’t know what. It tastes like curry. But it comes in a squeeze bottle. A squeeze bottle I just want to take home. And the hot sauce, you can beg all you want, but Sehmi clan will NOT sell you a bottle. They can’t make it fast enough every day. It’s a mixture of three chili peppers, onion, garlic, and some other secret ingredient (lemon juice, but you didn’t hear it from me). I’ve sworn off sriracha for a couple of years now, and have found the “daily” replacement in Hot Red Bus’s manly sauce. It’s so good (but perfectly balanced, unlike sriracha) it made me want to impregnate some UK princess right after the second bite. This sauce is absolutely the boss.
All you jobless UCSD graduates looking for carne asada fries? Forget Alberto’s, Hot Red Bus has your fix. And you’ll feel plenty Anglo while submerging yourself in HRB’s environs.
